Dr. Erik Pegg
Dr. Pegg was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii. After graduating from Punahou High School, he attended the University of California at Davis where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Physiology. He then went on to work at several biotechnology companies in the San Francisco Bay Area focusing on cancer research, before making the decision to become a veterinarian.
He attended the Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine and earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine the year following hurricane Katrina. He then moved to the central valley of California where he initially worked as a Veterinary Medical Officer for the USDA. Dr. Pegg became interested in small animal emergency medicine and took positions at Merced Animal Medical Center and Taylor ER Veterinary Emergency Hospital prior to making the decision to open a small animal hospital in his home state of Hawaii.
After starting Kama'aina Pet Hospital on the island of Oahu, the hospital was sold ten years later to Petco and became part of Vetco Total Care. Dr. Pegg then started doing relief work at several emergency hospitals in California before finding Inland Valley Veterinary Specialists and Emergency Center and accepting a full time position. He has a special interest in surgery and emergency/critical care medicine, and has been taking continuing education to improve his ultrasound skills.
Dr. Pegg lives in Claremont with a veterinary technician and her two children (and occasional grandson), as well as a chinchilla (Layza), two dogs (Ivy and Daisy), and a new kitten (Ryal). When not working or attending continuing education courses, Dr. Pegg enjoys reading novels from one of his favorite authors.
